Couch White, LLP Partner to Present at Educational Energy (EDEnergy) Day 2011

July 06, 2011

Couch White, LLP Partner, Michael B. Mager, of the Firm’s Energy law practice group is set to present “The Rate-Setting Process” at EDEnergy Day 2011. His presentation will cover how the rate-setting process works in New York State as well as how businesses can understand, participate in and impact the rate-setting process, (e.g. through membership with Multiple Intervenors).

Ithaca College in conjunction with EMA – Electronic Motor Drives and Services in Cortland, NY has hosted a half-day energy seminar for the past 3 years at Ithaca College and invited area businesses to attend. The seminar has been so successful that this year, Ithaca College decided to expand it to a full day of energy education with multiple tracks. Educational Energy Day will become a regional event that we expect to attract over 300 attendees.

Mr. Mager has practiced extensively in matters before the New York State Public Service Commission since 1990, and also appears regularly before the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, the New York Independent System Operator, and the New York State Reliability Council. Much of his practice is on behalf of large industrial, commercial and institutional energy consumers, and includes, but is not limited to, the representation of clients in: administrative proceedings involving energy rates and regulatory policies; contract negotiations involving all facets of energy services; certification and related proceedings involving the construction and/or the operation of electric generation and gas distribution facilities; disputes with energy service providers, including utilities; and energy-related transactions.

He has had considerable success assisting businesses and institutions in lowering their energy-related costs in a variety of ways, and is a prominent representative of energy consumers throughout New York.
